Two Types of Greenhouses
A useful tool to any serious gardener, greenhouses come in a variety of sizes, materials, and prices. The type of greenhouse you buy will be determined by what you wish to achieve and how much you want to spend. You can invest thousands to put up a full scale, professional greenhouse; most home gardeners, however, no matter how serious, rarely need to spend that much. Smaller hobby sized greenhouses are capable of doing just about everything a full scale unit can do, but do it at a fraction of the cost.
PORTABLE GREENHOUSES
As the name suggests these are greenhouses that can be moved around with relative ease. Made of easily broken apart elements of either plastics or metal, the frame needs to be taken down yearly so the cover of polyethlylene plastic doesn’t get ruined during the winter months. While the largest of these greenhouses can reach dimensions as large as 50ft x 100ft, and are no longer really portable, they can be easily set up and taken down. They also fulfill the intent of a greenhouse by providing you a sheltered and warm place to extend your growing season to some degree.
PERMANENT GREENHOUSES
Frequently available in a kit format, simple permanent greenhouses offer a lot of choice and benefit for the home gardener. Available in a number of shapes, such as a lean to, an A frame, or Quonset hut, you can typically find something that will fit into your landscaping and still be affordable. Greenhouses are further separated into temperatures–cool, warm and hot–based on your goals for the house. If you just want a place that will protect your plants from frost, a cool house will do; if you want to grow plants all winter long and enjoy fresh produce, you will need a hot house.
No matter what type of house you want, the internet is an excellent place to start your research.

Solar Greenhouse (Technical) $66.91 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A greenhouse (also called a glasshouse) is a building where plants are grown. A greenhouse is a structure with a glass or plastic roof and frequently glass or plastic walls; it heats up because incoming solar radiation from the sun warms plants, soil, and other things inside the building faster than heat can escape the structure. Air warmed by the heat from hot interior surfaces is retained in the building by the roof and wall. These structures range in size from small sheds to very large buildings. Co2 Enrichment and Hot Water Heat in a Greenhouse $127.45 An exploding urban population growth, concerns about odor and ammonia volatilization from lagoons and spray fields, and the limited capacity of the land to absorb the excess nutrients has lead to an increase in complaints and lawsuits against the swine industry in North Carolina; nevertheless, this has not stopped growth of the industry. With the trend towards larger and more concentrated production sites, odors and pollution are an issue that must be dealt with. Most swine waste disposal treatments rely on lagoons to remove contaminants from waste prior to land application. An alternative solution for solving the lagoon effluent disposal problem is the use of a greenhouse, i.e., using the major waste components of the hog operation as inputs to a greenhouse to grow a crop. Greenhouse Gas Emissions of Biofuels $154.53 Biofuels are produced from biomass that can be shortly renewed contrarily to fossil fuels. Emphasis has been put on biofuels for transportation as this sector represents a major fast growing source of anthropogenic greenhouse gases (GHG). Compared to fossil fuels, biofuels emit less GHG, if CO2 savings through photosynthesis are not overwhelmed by other GHG emissions throughout the biofuel life cycle. Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) are therefore necessary to check for all polluting emissions and potential environmental impacts. This book first reviews the literature on biofuels, their GHG impact, and the reasons why results of biofuel LCA vary critically among published studies. It then presents the results of research works on how to improve the modelling of GHG emissions in agricultural fields and how to increase the relevance of biofuel LCA from agricultural feedstock by taking into account the local production factors. From a broader overview on bioenergy to a specific scientific insight into the determinism of GHG emissions, this book should help shed some light on biofuels for a large public and should be especially useful to professionals in Bioenergy and Environment fields. Author: Bessou, Ccile Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 260 Publication Date: 2010/06/25 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.58 inches |
